Scream 6 Ghostface Identity Jokingly Spoiled By Scream 2022 Actor Kyle Gallner

Scream 6 is an entertaining and captivating film that pays homage to the horror franchise's legacy, yet also offers sharp commentary on fandom culture that has evolved along with it.

The latest Scream movie takes on the concept of "requels", which combine new elements with existing ones. While this technique has been employed before in other slasher films, this one takes it to an even higher level!

1. Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid)

The Scream series has always challenged horror conventions and expectations with killer twists. Scream 1996 revealed Sidney's boyfriend Billy Loomis as Ghostface, while Scream 4 revealed Kirby's potential hookup Charlie was responsible.

Scream 2022 follows this tradition with a killer who turns out to be Sam Carpenter's boyfriend, Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid). One of the oldest horror laws in the franchise states that one should never trust a primary character's love interest.

Richie attempts to pit Sam against her sister Tara by sowing doubt in her mind. It's an hilariously misguided move and one of the least subtle and unsettling parts of the movie.

2. Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison)

This week, the fifth installment of the beloved Scream film franchise hit cinemas. But fans eager to know who is behind that iconic Ghostface mask are eager to find out!

Many familiar faces from Scream 5 return, but there are also some newcomers. One such person is 22-year-old actress Mikey Madison who will portray Amber Freeman in Scream 5.

Born on March 25, 1999 in Los Angeles, California, she is a recurring star on Better Things (FX, 2016-present). Prior to acting, she had an acclaimed career as an elite horseback rider but found inspiration for films when her sister married a screenwriter.

3. Wes Hicks (Dylan Minnette)

After the original Scream movie, it seems like every sequel has become increasingly derivative and cliche-ridden. Fortunately, 2022's Scream stands tall above all others as it pays more attention to characters who have been around from the start rather than simply recycling old ideas.

The film begins with a frenetic race against time as Judy Hicks flees home to save her son Wes from Ghostface (Marley Shelton). Unfortunately, her desperate pleas are met by an untimely death - an evocative moment in an otherwise terrifying film packed full of memorable scares.

4. Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown)

Longtime LGBTQ+ fans know that the Scream franchise has always had a subtextual queerness. Even gay writer Kevin Williamson confirmed this fact: Scream has been coded with queer survival since its first movie.

No surprise then that Mindy Meeks-Martin, a bisexual teenager with an affinity for horror movies, is the series' first LGBTQ+ presenting character. Jasmin Savoy Brown portrays her in Scream 6; previously seen on Showtime's Yellowjackets and recently speaking about her role.

In the movie, Mindy is visiting her mother Tara Carpenter (Mikey Madison) when Ghostface attacks her. She attempts to flee by extending a ladder through a window, but soon gets ambushed once again by Ghostface.

5. Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera)

Scream 2022 actor Kyle Gallner humorously teased that his character Vince, a scuzzy nephew of the original Stu Macher, would be Ghostface in Scream 6. While we cannot expect Gallner to appear in Scream 6, it is interesting to see him continue his engagement with the series.

In the trailer, it's implied that Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) is the illegitimate daughter of Stab killer Billy Loomis and she holds all the answers to her mother's identity issues. Sam's sister Tara (Jenna Ortega) and friends also attempt to track down this latest Ghostface.
